Carthusian tradition

The Carthusian Life-of-Christ Rosary

Clausular Rosary · Fifty Hail Marys, each joined to a short clause recalling a moment in the life of Christ. The clauses make the meditation explicit inside the prayer.

Associated with Dominic of Prussia, this meditative method is an important bridge between the Marian Psalter and later mystery cycles. Historical sources sometimes caution that “Carthusian Rosary” is a later name.
