The editorial compact
A library should earn
the reader’s trust.
Auxesis Library is being built for formation through sources: generous access, patient reading, explicit provenance, and honest limits.
The first collection begins with works that are clearly public domain in the United States. A source record may be complete even when the text is not yet ingested. That restraint matters: the platform should never invent a missing passage, silently modernize a translation, or detach a quotation from its edition.
Future research tools will be held to the same standard. Retrieval should lead back to stable sections and human-checkable citations. Summaries may assist a reader, but they should never replace the work being summarized.
Name the edition
Every displayed text remains attached to a specific edition, translator or editor, source file, and rights record.
Separate text from guidance
Primary-source wording, bibliographic description, and Auxesis Library orientation are visibly distinct.
Catalog before ingesting
A useful metadata record can appear before full text. Missing content is never filled with generated or reconstructed prose.
Make citations durable
Sections have stable identifiers and canonical citations so future search and research answers can point back to exact passages.
